Parents are fighting against BPA and moms have to be really careful because according to Sarah Janssen from NRDC (Natural Resources Defence Council):
Polycarbonate bottles containing BPA are still legal to sell. I have often worried about what happened to all those polycarbonate baby bottles that were taken off the store shelves. Are they being sold in at a deep discount elsewhere? Were the bottles stocked away in some warehouse and will they re-surface after the “BPA-free” marketing craze ends? And who is making sure the alternatives are safe?
This is really worrying. She also writes:
My organization, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), filed a petition over three years ago asking the FDA to revoke their approval for the use of BPA in all food contact applications. This included baby bottles and sippy cups. The FDA never responded to that petition and we have had to resort to suing them to get a response. Over the past three years, in the absence of any federal regulation, eleven states (the latest being California), have banned the use of BPA in baby bottles and sippy cups. Canada, the European Union and even China, have banned this use of BPA. We, as a nation, are woefully behind in protecting our most vulnerable.

At this time of the year babies can get the flu and it’s not easy for us, parents to wipe their little nose.
What should we do? Are there any fun ways to do it? I check my favorite site – parenthacks.com – and of course they came up with some brilliant ideas. Let’s see them:
My ten-month-old daughter has a terrible cold right now, and she has developed a fear of the nose wipe. Anytime she sees me coming towards her with a rag or a kleenex, she turns her head away and hides – usually by rubbing her hands over her nose, spreading around everything I was about to wipe up.
The trick I’ve discovered is that if I throw the rag over her face, like we’re playing peek-a-boo, then I can quickly “pat” around her nose and mouth, and she still thinks it’s a game.
If I try to wipe, she figures it out, so the “pat” technique is important!

This is really funny. I’ve just came across these funny quotes – My OB-GYN said what?. It’s on babble.com.
Just a couple of funny quotes, you can read the rest on the site:
“Well, you still don’t look pregnant, but your butt does.”
“Hi my name is Dr. payne.”
“You”ll blow up like a marshmallow later in your pregnancy.”

When you have a baby everything has to be childproof in your house. It’s really important to check everything. I find Ehow Family really useful and they have a bunch of advice on how to make your home childproof.
I also came across a very useful article on my favorite site (believe it or not – it’s parenthacks.com) how to make childproof switch cover. It needs a bit DIY but I’m sure you partner or husband can help you with it.
Laura’s husband came up with this brilliant and frugal idea:
My husband came up with a solution – he took a bottle from the recycle bin (happened to be a Johnson’s baby soap one, but I think a gallon milk jug would be great – the opaqueness looks classier somehow), cut out a 4″ long extended oval and screwed it over the switch with the screws that hold the switch cover on – making it bow out a bit. It curves over the switch and we can reach under it to hit the switch, but our now 2.5 year old can’t quite coordinate getting his fingers under and doing anything with it.
A Free Johnson’s Baby Relief Kit can be very useful for expecting moms and for first time moms too.
This Baby Relief Kit contains the following items:

I’ve just read Candy Schulman’s great and very entertaining article about her picky eater daughter. How 2 food lovers can raise a child who doesn’t appreciate quality food? This is a story to read. 🙂
Eventually — at 18 months on the planet — Amy grew into a diet of all white foods: pasta, bread, butter, cream cheese. I complained to the pediatrician that she ate macaroni and cheese every single night! His response: “At least you don’t have to think about what to make for dinner.”
It’s not easy to be a parent, is it?
